A Franco-Ontarian bank with its roots in North Bay has created its own IT and tools as part of creating a brand new online banking platform.
Caisse Alliance held a press conference at its home office in North Bay on Tuesday afternoon.
"Given the rapid technological evolution, the customization of our systems is fundamental for ensuring innovation and remaining competitive in the industry," said Pierre Dorval, president and CEO of Caisse Alliance.
"We will be more independent and freer to adopt our own services to better respond to our member's needs, our orientations, and our operational environment."
"We are acquiring our own technology because we are a people-based community who wants to make sense of money at a local level," said Gregoire Lefebvre, chair of the board of directors of Caisse Alliance.
Caisse Alliance has used Desjardins as its IT service provider. Dorval says Caisse Alliance and Desjardins are collaborating in order to ensure an optimal transition as Caisse Alliance takes over the role.
Caisse Alliance will be contacting its clients from September 5 to 14 when they will be hosting six member group meetings that will take place across the region.
"We have developed strategies to ensure a smooth transition and our usual member-centred approach will be implemented," said Dorval.
"We thank our members for their invaluable collaboration at this important stage in the history of our financial cooperative."
Caisse Alliance is a financial cooperative that employs more than 350 employees and 27 branch locations in 24 communities in Northern Ontario.
