THUNDER BAY — The City of Thunder Bay has moved its building permit applications online.
In a move to streamline more city services, the property and permits portal can now accept all types of residential building permit applications.
Through the website, submitted permit applications can be tracked as well and a public search is available to see what work is going on in various neighbourhoods.
By streamlining applications online, do-it-yourselfers and contractors will no longer need to bring paperwork to city offices and can submit applications online, even outside of city business hours.
With the addition of residential permit applications, permits for new houses/additions can be filed as well as small multi-unit dwellings/apartments and additions (less than 600 sq. m. or three storeys), demolitions and additional building systems like sprinklers and HVAC systems.
Permits already online include accessory buildings, decks, woodstoves, swimming pool fences and plumbing alterations. The launch and expansion of the portal is an integral part of the city’s digital strategy, which will bring more services fully online, available 24/7.
More details can be found on the city's website.
