The sod has been turned on a $1-million Timmins subdivision project by developer Lloyd Richards. A three-stage project at the end of Bonaventure Drive should result in new roads just south of Timmins Square Mall. Eighteen service lots will be developed in the first phase this year, followed by the development of 16 lots in 2003, and an extension to Majestic Drive, called McBride Street. It will link up with Riverside Drive beside the new Wal-Mart site across from the mall. A possible third phase in 2004 may result in a road between Bonaventure and Riverside running east to Pleasant Avenue. Contractors will be ready to move by July 15. About 20 people will be employed on the project, which will use mostly local labour.
