Timmins resort joins national chain

Cedar Meadows will become part of Choice Hotels, boosting international profile, says owner

TIMMINS — A Timmins resort has joined a national lodging franchise.

Cedar Meadows Resort and Spa is now part of Choice Hotels Canada's Ascend Hotel Collection, which is a network of resorts, historic properties and boutique hotels.

“We are so pleased to join the Ascend Hotel Collection, both for its outstanding reputation, but also because it allows us to keep our unique identity which we’ve worked so hard to build,” said Cedar Meadows owner Richard Lafleur in a news release. “We are confident that joining this internationally recognized brand will support our goal to become a global must-see destination.”

This year, the resort on Norman Street in Timmins added its much-anticipated sleeping with the wolves attraction.

Nine wolves arrived in December 2023 and four pups have been born since then. The animals freely roam around 10 acres of forest, which includes a one-acre pond.

Cedar Meadows also offers a Nordic spa, the CM Steakhouse and daily wilderness tours.

“This resort is an incredible addition and an ideal representation of the Ascend brand and the unique offerings it provides,” said Brian Leon, Choice Hotels Canada CEO. “The team is savvy, experienced and understands guest wants and needs. The future is bright for this immersive property.”
