The business community in the Tri-Towns is making much use of King Air's new scheduled airport service between the Earlton airport and Toronto. Since flights between Earlton, Rouyn-Noranda and Toronto resumed Jan. 28, after a more than two years absence, about 85 per cent of passengers are business travellers, according to Earlton's airport committee. As of mid-April, the new and expanded service has hosted 600 passengers, putting them on target to carry 2,000 within the first year of operations.
The new service is being subsidized by several agencies, including FedNor, Temfund, the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission and the Town of Kirkland Lake.
