Cambrian College in Sudbury is now offering training in mine hoist maintenance and operation.
A six-course suite of programs will be offered at the Sudbury campus, starting this spring.
“We’re hearing from companies and we’re tailoring our courses and programs here at Cambrian to meet the demands of industry,” said Kim Lair, Cambrian’s general manager of ancillary business operations, in an April 2 news release.
“These courses will provide people already working in the skilled trades with added qualifications that are needed here in Sudbury and throughout the global industry.”
The courses are intended for millwrights, HDMs, electricians, supervisors, and anyone associated with hoist maintenance.
Courses start in April and run through September. All participants are required to attend the April overview course as a prerequisite.
The course schedule and outline follows:

May 9-10: Conveyances
May 23-24: Electrical
June 13-14: Safety Controllers
Sept 12-13: Braking Systems
