St. Marys Paper Ltd. found its new mill manager from within its own ranks, appointing long-time woodlands manager Marc Dube as its top administrative official in August.
Dube had acted as interim manager for about a year, replacing Norm Facey who left last summer for a West Coast forestry job.
The Sault Ste. Marie mill is one of the leading North American manufacturers of supercalendar paper.
In a media release, St. Marys president Ron Stern credited employees and Dube's leadership in the past year for making strides in the mill's progress, quality and "spirit of unity."
Following a career with the Ministry of Natural Resources, Dube came aboard in 1984 as a forestry technician and moved up the ladder to woodlands manager with responsibility for environmental affairs.
Dube was instrumental in forming resource-related organizations and partnerships, including the Algoma Forest Coalition, which promotes shared use of land and forest resources.
