A Sault Ste. Marie multi-trades contracting firm has acquired Piper Mechanical Systems Inc. of Sudbury.

S. & T. Group announced on March 3 it acquired Piper, which provides heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) services to add to its expertise.

“This strategic move is set to enhance and expand the range of services offered in Sudbury, allowing S. & T. Group to better meet the diverse needs of its clients and strengthen its position in the regional market,” S. & T. said in a news release.

“This acquisition not only reinforces the company’s commitment to providing top-quality services, but also positions it for future growth and innovation in the industry.”

Established in 1984 as an electrical contracting firm, S. & T. Group has steadily grown its services to include mechanical, refrigeration, general contracting divisions, and a technologies division offering structured cabling, data technologies, and security alarm systems. The company expanded to Sudbury in 2000.

Last fall, S. & T. Group was acquired by the Markham company Team Group, which said the management team and staff would remain in place.

Team Group’s services include facility management, paint shop cleaning, and industrial cleaning solutions. Headquartered in Taylor, MI, the company has divisions in Canada, China and Thailand.
