John Simmons named executive chairman and interim CEO at Verv

Sudbury medtech company finds new leadership to reach 'next level' development for portable blood testing device

Sudbury, Ontario: Verv Technologies (Verv) is pleased to announce John Simmons has been named Executive Chairman and interim CEO effective January 27, 2025.

John Simmons previously served as the Board Chair at Verv and has extensive leadership experience and an exceptional track record in executive and board roles across the Canadian, U.S. and international healthcare sectors.

“I am excited to take on these roles at a time when Verv is at a critical juncture in its growth,” said Simmons. “We are on the path to commercialization, getting to market and seeing more than a decade’s work become a reality with a goal of changing the game in at home health.”

Simmons brings decades of success in leading transformations of large teams, building businesses from the ground up and forming strong relationships with customers, industry groups, stakeholders, external partners and international affiliates.

Simmons was the former President (Canada), Becton Dickinson (BD); President (Canada), KCI Medical (now part of 3M); General Manager (Canada), Abbott Diagnostics; CEO of AceAge and held senior roles with Philips Healthcare and Johnson & Johnson. Mr. Simmons has served on a number of Boards including Medtech Canada, is currently a Board Director at Southlake Health and at CHATS (Community and Home Assistance to Seniors).  Simmons also serves on the Advisory Board for Lumenalta (formerly Clevertech) and is on the selection jury for the Canadian Healthcare Industry Awards.
