Discovery Aviation Academy has been awarded a contract to provide training for the Air Cadet Power Pilot Scholarship Program. The contract includes providing flight training for 10 Air Cadets toward their private pilot licence during a seven-week period this summer.
Based at the Greater Sudbury Airport, Discovery Aviation Academy is one of a number of schools providing flight training to 250 students across Canada. Of these students, 201 receive their private pilot licence in an agreement with the Department of National Defence (DND) by select Air Transport Association of Canada (ATAC) member schools.
“We are very excited to be a part of the Air Cadet Power Pilot Scholarship Program,” Jason Fogg, the academy’s program manager, said in a news release. “Providing a high level of service to government clients is something we are very accustomed to, and we will continue to do so in support of this new contract.”
According to the Air Cadet League of Canada, one out of every five private pilots in Canada is a former Air Cadet and 67 per cent of Canadian commercial and airline pilots flying today got their start in Air Cadets.
