Porter Airlines’ new jet service between Thunder Bay and Toronto is operational.
The airline announced in August it was introducing Embraer E195-E2 planes on the route between Thunder Bay International Airport and Pearson International Airport.
Seating 132 passengers, the new planes are expected to increase customer capacity by 10 per cent.
“We’re committed to providing more options at competitive fares for the Thunder Bay community,” Edmond Eldebs, Porter’s senior vice-president and chief commercial officer, said in a Dec. 10 news release.
“Now passengers can fly with us using either Toronto airport and experience the style, care and charm that only Porter provides.”
Flights will operate three times weekly, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, departing Toronto at 7:20 a.m., for arrival in Thunder Bay at 9:15 a.m., and departing Thunder Bay at 10:10 a.m., arriving in Toronto at 11:57 a.m.
Porter also offers service between Thunder Bay and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport up to five times daily via their 78-seat Dash 8-400 aircraft.
Complimentary beer, wine, snacks, and Wi-Fi are available to all passengers.
Graham Ingham, president and CEO of the Thunder Bay International Airports Authority, welcomed the new service.
“This addition represents a commitment to enhancing the travel experience for our passengers, offering greater comfort, sustainability, and connectivity,” he said in the release.
“It’s an exciting step forward in strengthening our partnership with Porter Airlines and providing travellers with more exceptional options to and from our region.”
