In recognition of Healthy Workplace Month, Workplace Safety North (WSN) is offering free mental health training sessions in the month of October.
Participants can choose between either a half-day session on mental health awareness or a full day specifically designed for people in leadership roles.
In Mental Health 101, participants will learn about the mental health continuum, stress response, personal action plans, and steps one can take to remove the stigma around mental illness.
A second session, aimed at leaders in the workplace, covers mental health awareness as well as the concept of psychological health and safety in the workplace and what makes a psychologically safe leader.
Sessions will be led by WSN staff members Lindsay Digby, Elisha Malette, and Adrienne Allam, who are all health and safety specialists and certified as psychological health and safety advisors with the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Digby will guide the Sudbury sessions, being held Oct. 12 and 13; Malette will host the Timmins sessions on Oct. 26 and 27; and Allam will lead the Thunder Bay sessions, also on Oct. 26 and 27.
Participation is free of charge; however, advance registration is required as sessions are limited to 20 participants.
Headquartered in North Bay, Workplace Safety North is a non-profit organization offering health and safety training for the mining and forestry industries.
