Tbaytel has recruited its new leader from the executive ranks at Bell Canada.

The board of directors of the Thunder Bay-based regional telecom provider announced Tuesday that it has hired Paul Norris to serve as its next president and CEO, effective Oct. 1, 2024.

He'll take over from Dan Topatigh, who's retiring after 10 years in the job.

Norris has over 25 years' experience in telecommunications sales, marketing and strategy development.

In his last role, he was vice-chair Bell MTS & Western Canada, and vice-president/sales (Greenfield & MDU Partnerships) for Bell Canada nationally.

Before joining Bell in 2017 through its acquisition of Manitoba's MTS, Norris held a number of positions at MTS in Winnipeg.

"Tbaytel has an exceptional history of delivering outstanding telecommunications services while investing in the neighbourhoods they serve," Norris said in a statement.

"I look forward to joining this team of talented and dedicated employees to serve and grow TBaytel's commitment to all its customers."

Scott Potts, chair of the Tbaytel board, said there will be "a seamless transition" from Topatigh to Norris, and thanked the outgoing CEO for his service to the company and the community at large.
