Investors keen to get in on the ground floor of innovative new medical technology created in Northern Ontario are being invited to a one-day investors forum in Sudbury on Feb. 9.
The Cancer Research Breakthrough Forum is being hosted by Northern Ontario Angels in partnership with the cancer solutions team at Health Sciences North Research Institute and the Northern Cancer Foundation.
“The Cancer Research Breakthrough Forum is a unique blending of visionary minds, facilitated by the strategic partnership between Northern Ontario Angels, the Northern Cancer Foundation and the strategic Cancer Solutions research leads at HSNRI,” Ian Lane, executive director for Northern Ontario Angels, said in a Jan. 25 news release.
“This event is a gateway to transformative investment opportunities in the ever-evolving landscape of medical technology."
The evening will feature presentations from creators of some of the North’s most advanced medical technology.
Dr. Sujeenthar (Suji) Tharmalingam of NOSM University will reveal a new prototype for anti-fungal detection of oral cancer; Michael Waterston, CEO of Radialis in Thunder Bay, will introduce his company’s PET Imager, a device with 10 times more precision than conventional PET scanners; and Tabassum Pasha, chief operating officer of WaivetheWait, will discuss her technology, which automates patient outreach tasks for medical clinics.
"Collaboration is essential in the pursuit of groundbreaking solutions for cancer,” said Dr. Deborah Saunders, medical director and co-lead of cancer solutions at Health Sciences North Research Institute, in the release.
“The Cancer Research Breakthrough Forum provides a space for brilliant minds to come together, fostering critical dialogue and key stakeholder partnerships that have the potential to redefine the landscape of medical technology, not just in Northern Ontario, but beyond."
