A Sudbury construction company has launched a new modular housing division aimed at making luxury homeownership more affordable.

Mezza Ltd. is a distributor for Supreme Homes, which designs and builds modular houses at its factory in Tracadie-Sheila, NB.

Clients can choose from more than a dozen models that can then be customized to their preferences.

Mezza conducts the consultation, preps the property, assembles the home once it arrives from New Brunswick, and installs all the finishing touches.

In a news release, Mezza said its goal is to break down "traditional barriers in the housing market” with designs that “combine exclusivity with affordability.”

"I’ve always believed in the need to make homeownership more accessible to the average person, which is why I wanted to get into modular homes,” Tyler Wilson, Mezza's president, said in the release.

“With Mezza, my goal is to redefine perceptions of modular homes — showing that they can be luxurious, modern, and cost-effective compared to traditional building methods.

“We’re committed to making the process of designing and building your new home not just stress-free, but truly enjoyable.”

Because they're built in a factory, modular homes are often considered to be more budget-friendly and faster to build, because builders can better control material costs and labour, among other variables.

Mezza said it will also be partnering with North Shore Quality Homes, a modular homebuilding company based in Massey, west of Sudbury.

Mezza is a division of Wilson Hope Group of Companies, which additionally owns and operates North Range Sod, Barlume Inc., and Capreol Home Hardware.
