Staggering U.S. tariffs imposed on Canadian lumber could claim Tembec's Timmins sawmill as a casualty. The U.S. commerce department's decision to levy an additional 12.6 per cent anti-dumping duty on top of a 19.3 per cent countervailing duty from last August has placed the 170 jobs at the Timmins mill in jeopardy, though no layoffs have been announced. Company officials at the Timmins mill, which ships about half its production to the U.S., would not disclose how much money they are losing.
