In a cost-cutting move, TeleTech is relying on a new security-monitoring system to protect its $3.5-million call centre while cutting back on man hours of security. Only one security person from Canadian Alliance Security will watch over the still-empty centre instead of six. The security system will watch over the building during evenings and weekends until a tenant is secured. TeleTech has been searching for a client since the building was completed last spring. Though expectant of securing a tenant shortly, they blame a weakening North American economy and the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks for the delay. The centre, when opened, is expected to create 400 jobs.
