The Operation Treasure Hunt program has released results of a geological lake sediment survey outlining 20 areas where significant geochemical anomalies occur in the Sioux Lookout-Bamaji Lake region, 300 kilometres northwest of Thunder Bay. Many of the anomalies reportedly occur in areas that are open for staking and show significantly higher than normal concentrations of minerals in the lake sediments. Enhanced levels of palladium, platinum, copper and nickel have been found in lake sediment in the area.
