Noranda Inc. is closing down its Thunder Bay office. The office will shut down over the course of a year, as Noranda and Falconbridge Ltd. consolidate their Canadian operations in Laval, Que. Both companies maintain considerable mining claim holdings in northwestern Ontario.
Nine people currently work in the Thunder Bay office, and seven of those will be relocated to other offices. Noranda has two mine sites in Ignace, and one in Manitouwadge. Falconbridge will close its Winnipeg office as part of the process.
