For the fifth straight year, Research Infosource Inc. has named Lakehead University in Thunder Bay the top research university in the country in the undergraduate university category.
Research Infosource bills itself as "Canada's source of R&D intelligence." It is a research, consulting, and publishing firm which, among other things, produces ranking information on research universities, corporations, hospitals and colleges.
Based on various measures of research success, Lakehead scored 84.5, edging the University of Québec at Rimouski by half a point to retain top honours.
Andrew Dean, LU's vice-president for research and innovation, said it's the result of success and dedication of Lakehead's researchers, and the work of the university's office of Research services and Economic Development and Innovation.
"This year Research Infosource also noted that we are the leader in cross-sector aggregate publication count in our category from 2013 to 2017. This shows that we are engaging with multiple partners on research projects that are outside of our university," Dean said.
He added that the partnership shows Lakehead is producing relevant research and is having a local, national and international impact.
