The province is investing more than $1.2 million to help Collège Boréal and Contact North upgrade their telecommunications systems. The funding will allow them to convert to the most efficient and innovative form of telecommunications, from analogue-based technology to Internet Protocol (IP) technology. More than $3 million is being invested by Contact North and the college. The new technology will increase access, reduce delivery costs and provide seamless and compatible interfacing with other videoconference terminals and e-learning providers.
