Sudbury manufacturer recognized by Collège Boréal

Collège Boréal in Sudbury has recognized André Ruest for his professional accomplishments and his contributions to the Franco-Ontarian community.

Collège Boréal in Sudbury has recognized André Ruest for his professional accomplishments and his contributions to the Franco-Ontarian community.

Ruest, who is the general manager of B&D Manufacturing in Sudbury, received a plaque from the French-language college during a presentation on April 5. B&D Manufacturing does design, fabrication, manufacturing, on-site repair and rebuild of components for the mining and construction industries. The company was named the 2012 Business of the Year by Northern Ontario Business.

“Collège Boréal is privileged to have among its business and community partners a company that actively participates in the development of a skilled workforce while contributing significantly to the economic development of the region,” Boréal president Denis Hubert-Dutrisac said in a news release . “The leadership demonstrated by Mr. André Ruest is exemplary in that he encourages the hiring of skilled graduates who in turn ensure the renewal and durability of key players in the economic growth of our region.”

Ruest formerly sat on the college’s board of governors, and has made philanthropic contributions to the Collège Boréal Foundation.

“I am very proud of B&D’s longstanding affiliation with Collège Boréal, both through our involvement on the board and directly contributing to the educational experience,” Ruest said. “We are pleased to support programs that encourage the students to follow their dreams of pursuing rewarding careers in the skilled trades.”
