David MacKinnon, president and chief executive officer of the Ontario Hospital Association, will be the keynote speaker at the Hopital regional de Sudbury Regional Hospital's (HRSRH) annual meeting.
"Rising consumer expectations, new technology, genomic and health research, and a growing and aging population are changing how we view and define health, as well as how and where health care is delivered," MacKinnon said.
He said compounding these challenges are rising costs, labour shortages and an underlying erosion in skills and capital stock.
Chair of the HRSRH board of directors, Tom Querney, said MacKinnon's assessment of the health-care system from a provincial perspective will serve as a valuable barometer for the locality of Greater Sudbury.
The meeting will take place at Science North's Inco Cavern on June 25.
