Northern Development and Mines Minister Michael Gravelle arrived in Sudbury, March 27, passing out more than $3.8-million worth of cheques to local mining suppliers and manufacturers.
Moran Industrial Coatings and Mining Technologies International (MTI) each took home $1 million to expand their businesses. MTI is using their money to establish an underground research and demonstration site.
BSK Machine Shop received $929,000 to expand its facility by 50 per cent.
Doug’s Ventures got $723,500 to grow its mechanical contracting business.
The National Mine Safety Training Centre pocketed $100,000 to work on an air purifying respirator with a built-in communications system.
K-Fab Custom Metal Fabrication will be expanding its shop with $68,516.
“The global economy is increasingly competitive and Northern Ontario businesses need to be innovative,” said Gravelle in a press release.
