International students attending 11 Ontario colleges have ranked Cambrian College in Sudbury best in the province in terms of overall student satisfaction. Cambrian also came out in the top three out of 182 colleges and universities worldwide in student satisfaction with their learning experiences.

The survey, called the International Student Barometer (ISB), is the largest and most extensive survey of international students globally. It is a confidential and comparative survey tool that tracks perceptions, expectations, and experiences of international students.

Cambrian College was one of 182 colleges and universities worldwide to participate in the ISB Autumn Survey Wave (2016), which included 11 Ontario colleges. The survey included measures of student satisfaction, including quality of living experiences; support services; industry-experienced faculty; learning environments; and arrival experiences.

Cambrian’s results show high levels of student satisfaction in key areas such as student and graduate employment; career services; language supports; physical resources, including libraries and study areas; faculty experience; marking criteria; social activities and facilities; and arrival support.

“Our faculty and staff are incredibly proud of the results that we have achieved,” said Cambrian president Bill Best, in a release.

“Ensuring that all of our students feel supported, both academically and personally, is a top priority. Our international students experience unique challenges that make high-functioning support systems, facilities, and academic resources even more imperative. I am very pleased to see that our efforts and standards have made an impact on our international students.”

The number of international students who choose to study at Cambrian College has grown significantly in the past two years. In 2015, approximately 300 students studied at Cambrian. In 2017, that number is expected to increase to 500 international students from 27 countries.

Cambrian continues to welcome international students year-round for a variety of academic programs, including language training and more than 80 full-time diploma, degree, and certificate programs.
