Algoma Steel's board of directors are short-listing candidates in the selection of a new president and chief executive officer for the Sault Ste. Marie steelmaker.
A North America-wide search has been undertaken since Alexander 'Sandy' Adam announced in June he was stepping down after seven years as Algoma's president.
Ray & Berndtson/Lovas Stanley, an executive-search consultant, has been retained to recruit candidates with strong leadership skills and a heavy industry background.
The restructured Algoma emerged out of nine months of bankrupcty protection in January after losing $392 million in 2001.
