Sault Ste. Marie firm NORPRO has hired a former police officer as the head of its security division.
The company announced on Jan. 13 that Sonny Spina, a former constable with the Sault Ste. Marie Police, has taken on the role of managing director of security.
“Sonny brings a wealth of integrity to NORPRO and the development of new relationships and clients,” Brad Gregorini, Norpro’s president, said in a news release.
“We have big plans for the future, and we’re excited to have a dedicated person like Sonny on our team to help take us to the next level and achieve our growth strategy.”

Under the security division, Spina will be tasked with protecting personnel, maintaining and implementing protocol, and reducing risk.
The company’s security division includes COVID-19 screeners, industrial and security guards, patrol guards, and loss prevention officers. He is also accountable for overseeing the local and regional sales team.
Spina will also oversee the company’s planned expansion of security services across Ontario, which it announced in December with the opening of an office in Sudbury.
Established in 1980, NORPRO’s roots are in site security, but over the years it’s added services in the areas of technology, IT, facilities and maintenance, and business support.
It maintains offices in Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie, MI.
