The sale of four hydroelectric generating stations in northeastern Ontario from Ontario Power Generation to the Great Lakes Hydro Income Fund was finalized May 17. The four stations are located on the Mississagi River, east of Sault Ste. Marie, and generate 490 megawatts. The acquisition expands the fund's generating capacity to more than 900 megawatts across 15 hydroelectric generating stations in Northern Ontario. The purchase price was $140 million. The fund owns, operates and manages four integrated hydro-power generation, transmission and distribution systems in Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia and Maine.
