The Ministry of Labour is investigating following an industrial accident that resulted in a fatality at Ontario Concrete in Sault Ste. Marie.
Ministry of Labour spokesperson Janet Deline confirmed on Monday there was one fatality as a result of the accident.
“We were notified on Friday a worker was struck by a vehicle, causing fatal injuries,” Deline told SooToday.
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was called to the scene at 1:40 p.m. on Friday, April 7. Police determined there is no criminal element associated with the investigation, and turned the investigation over to the ministry.
Deline said privacy legislation prevents the name, gender or age of the victim from being released by the ministry.
Multiple police vehicles and an ambulance could be seen at the Great Northern Road location early on Friday afternoon.
