A German trade delegation from the Lower Saxony region toured Northern Ontario in late August exploring future economic partnerships.
Economic development officials from Germany visited Sudbury, Manitoulin and Sault Ste. Marie, meeting with engineering groups from Laurentian University and its Mining Innovation, Rehabilitation and Applied Research Corp., as well as First Nations tourism and development representatives.
The Lower Saxony region is home to the Freiberg School of Mining and Technology, the world's oldest mining school.
