Algoma Steel expects to have a new president and chief executive officer in place by Sept. 1. The Sault Ste. Marie company's search committee is further short-listing from a group of 10 candidates. Two months ago, Alexander 'Sandy' Adam announced his intention to retire Aug. 31 after seven years at Algoma's helm. He will remain with the corporation as a member of the board of directors. Adam's successor will not be chosen from within the company. To assist in their search, the company selected Ray & Berndtson/Lovas Stanley, an executive search consultant.
