Sioux Lookout looked to the Town of Cobalt to find its new CAO.
Michelle Larose starts on the job as the northwestern Ontario’s town top bureaucrat on Aug.27.
She has 17 years of municipal experience, including nine years as the CAO, clerk and treasurer in Cobalt.
A July 25 news release said Larose and her husband are both Northerners and are looking forward to the move.
“I am very excited to be joining the municipal team in Sioux Lookout. I look forward to working with and cultivating new relationships with council, staff, and our citizens, to build on the successes of the community.”
Larose has an education in economics and finance, and is a certified municipal officer by the Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks, and Treasurers of Ontario.
She’s worked in Perth East, Smooth Rock Falls, Iroquois Falls, Deep River, Cochrane and Cobalt.
Sioux Lookout used a headhunting firm to fill the role after Ann Mitchell vacated the position after six years to move to Alberta.
Council selected Larose at a special meeting on July 3.
“Municipal council engaged Legacy Bowes Group Ltd. to undertake a search and selection process for the vacant CAO position,” said Mayor Doug Lawrance in a statement.
“We are very satisfied with the result and look forward to working with our new CAO, Michelle Larose. We also want to thank airport manager Ben Hancharuk who has taken on the responsibility of Acting CAO for several months.”
