Northern Policy Institute (NPI) will hold a fundraising gala this October, in celebration of its fifth anniversary.
The NPI performs research, collects and disseminates evidence, and identifies policy opportunities to support the growth of sustainable Northern communities. Its operations are located in Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury.
Presented by North Superior Workforce Planning Board, the gala event will be held in Thunder Bay on Oct. 18 at The Chanterelle on Park, with the theme Moving Forward Together: the Hard Work of Reconciliation.
Cree politician and Indigenous rights activist Dr. Matthew Coon Come will speak about the Cree perspective on the sacrifices, compromises and hard stances needed to make real progress towards a true nation-to-nation relationship, the benefits accruing to both sides by sharing power, and the risks associated with exercising that power.
Guests will additionally enjoy an evening of networking opportunities, a locally sourced meal, and a look back on the past five years of NPI’s successes.
A second fundraising event, featuring former Québécois politician and lawyer Jean Charest, will be held in Sudbury in April. Details will be announced at a future date.
All funds raised will go directly toward future projects and programs of NPI.
