The City of Dryden is promoting from within in naming a new chief administrative officer.

Roger Nesbitt, a 10-year municipal employee, has been named to the top bureaucratic post. He officially assumes his new job on April 14.

He replaces Ernie Remillard who tendered his resignation on March 26. Remillard's last day is on April 13.

After several meetings to recruit a new CAO, council selected Nesbitt, who comes from the city's senior management team and as information technology manager, responsible for all aspects of technology across the entire municipal organization.

In an April 5 news release, deputy mayor Mary Trist welcomed Nesbitt to his new role.

"He will serve our community very well as we move forward with many exciting projects. He is a proven, effective leader with years of senior municipal management experience."

In a statement, Nesbitt expressed enthusiasm in accepting the senior staff position.

"I am pleased to accept this leadership position and very excited to continue working with the great staff at the City of Dryden and all of our community partners as the city’s CAO."
