Village Media is adding to its family of online news publications with the launch of ElliotLakeToday.com.

Village Media has announced the launch of ElliotLakeToday.com, the latest member of a growing network of community news sites.

The site will host local news posted as it happens, along with obituaries, weather, and online flyers for desktop, tablet or smartphone platforms.

Elliot Lake may be the smallest community Village Media serves, but the company said it has already been welcomed by the community.

“Village Media is a born-digital news network, with sites across Ontario. We've been embraced by our communities and found success because we focus on local.  We love telling your stories, we care about our neighbours, and we want to see our communities succeed,” said Jeff Elgie, president and CEO of Village Media.

“We have received a very warm welcome from the city and from many Elliot Lake businesses and organizations. We feel like a part of Elliot Lake already.”

ElliotLakeToday launches with Village Media’s business directory and classified offerings already built in, as well as community information, such as obituaries, weather and online flyers. As part of the launch, the company will be holding 20 days of giveaways.

The Village Media network, which is headquartered in Sault Ste. Marie, includes the news sites SooToday.com, GuelphToday.com, BarrieToday.com, BayToday.ca, TimminsToday.com and ElliotLakeToday.com, and has strategic partnerships with Sudbury.com in Sudbury — the sister publication of Northern Ontario Business — TBNewswatch.com in Thunder Bay and the Manitoulin Expositor (Manitoulin.ca).
