Mattawa truck manufacturer Gin-Cor has acquired Cross Country Trailers, based in Blenheim, in southern Ontario.

Cross Country Trailers manufactures more than 130 trailer types for the aggregate, flatbed and heavy-haul industry and has 60 dealer locations across North America.

Gin-Cor made the announcement in a Dec. 7 news release, noting that the new company would be rebranded as Gin-Cor Trailer Werx.

“We see tremendous opportunity in this facility and the workforce made up of people from a great community,” president-CEO Luc Stang said in the release. “We plan to maintain jobs, invest in the site, and to actually increase the workforce as we bring Cross Country into the Gin-Cor group family.

“We will be reaching out to community partners and letting them know that we see great potential here.”

Founded in 1978, Gin-Cor is a family-owned and -operated business that specializes in manufacturing customized trucks, such as dump vehicles, snow plows, cranes and pup trailers, for a range of industries.

The company has experienced a number of successes over the last five years, including:

  • ranking as one of Canada’s Fastest Growing Companies three consecutive years with PROFIT 500;
  • growing its staff from 40 people to almost 500 with the inclusion of the Blenheim location;
  • forming a strategic partnership and acquiring DEL Equipment, which added seven new locations and gives the company coast-to-coast presence.

“We know there has been some uncertainty for the (Blenheim) community, and we look forward to moving ahead together and creating a new success story for the men and women that make up the team here,” Stang said.
