The workforce at Voyageur Airways, based at the Aerospace Centre in North Bay, is expected to expand to 260 over the next few months as a result of a $1-million expansion. The company is converting a former hangar into a maintenance facility that will service primarily Dash 7 and Dash 8 aircraft. The expansion has created about 40 new jobs to date, and a further 30 more are expected to be created. Pending further expansions, the company may also consider converting the warehouse into hangar space, an official with the company says. Voyageur Airways was the first tenant at the former CFB North Bay after the Air Base Property Corp. took over the hangars from the Defence Department in 1996.
