Red Lake received a funding windfall from Kenora MP and FedNor minister Greg Rickford.
The agency has earmarked $208,890 for the municipality to prepare five commercial properties along the Highway 105 corridor for new occupants.
The investment will assist the municipality in project management and engineering; removal of overgrowth, roots and rocks; installation of culverts; and preparation of the sites to a rough grade level.
“Thanks to support from FedNor and the federal government, we hope to attract new businesses to support the area’s mining sector and its workforce, helping to stem the flow of consumer spending outside of the community,” said Phil Vinet, Mayor of Red Lake in a Sept. 5 statement.
