Passenger rail service on the Polar Bear Express is being temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Ontario Northland Transportation Commission announced service between Cochrane and Moosonee will be suspended on April 7.

The North Bay-based Crown agency said this is a temporary measure due to heightened concern for vulnerable people in remote communities.
The decision was made in consultation with the Government of Ontario, Ontario Northland, Mushkegowuk Council, Moose Cree First Nation, Town of Moosonee and the local health authority.
The situation will be re-evaluated every two weeks.
Ontario Northland said freight service between on the line will continue as scheduled, ensuring the transportation of essential supplies including food, medical supplies, building materials, fuel and equipment.
Passengers with reservations beyond April 6 will be contacted by Ontario Northland and fully reimbursed.
