Northern College and Primero Mining Corp. are teaming up to provide training to Primero’s workforce.
The partnership will see Northern creating a series of online health and safety, induction and orientation training courses which will be used to train new and existing Primero employees and clients. The training programs will include multimedia and video elements developed by the college in collaboration with Primero.
“We pride ourselves on our ability to work directly with employers to create customized training options that meet their unique needs,” says Christine Heavens, executive director of Community, Business Development and Employment Services at the college.
“By choosing to partner with us, employers are able to provide their workforce with the high-quality, accessible training that Northern College is known for, with content catered to the exact demands of their workplace. The programming we’re developing with Primero will have a much greater value for their employees than generic online training programs.”
“Primero is proud to be partnering with Northern College to deliver a unique experience for new employees and visitors to the Black Fox complex,” said Chris Price, Primer’s Safety and Training superintendent. “Primero emphasizes safety first, and the program being developed with Northern College will certainly be a great tool for all who will work or visit Black Fox in learning about our commitment to safety and training.”
Once completed, the new training materials will become essential training for new employees at Primero’s Black Fox Complex in the Township of Black River-Matheson. The training will be delivered through Northern College’s Corporate Training Centre at the Timmins campus.
