Workplace Safety & Prevention Services (WSPS) will host a pair of conferences this fall, in Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay, to discuss health and safety in the workplace.

The theme of this year’s Partners in Prevention series is ‘Finding Balance.’

The ‘Superior’ conference will take place in Sault Ste. Marie on Sept. 27, while the ‘Forum North’ conference will take place in Thunder Bay Nov. 1-2.

Aiming to address challenges posed over the last two years by the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s series of conferences aspires to help employers and employees find balance.

“From addressing core hazards and JHSC (joint health and safety committee) effectiveness to implementing workplace mental health strategies, this conference will provide new insights to protecting your people and strengthening your health and safety strategy,” according to organizers.

A keynote speaker at both events will be Graham Sherman, owner of Calgary’s Tool Shed Brewing Company, who will speak about “Why Collaboration Beats Competition.”

Thunder Bay’s event will also feature Shilo Neveu, who oversees health and safety at Valard Construction; he will speak about “Does Safety Culture Have Legal Teeth?” Kate Davis, a connectivity expert, will speak about “Balancing Life with Humour.”

Both events will also feature a number of talks and panel discussions, along with a tradeshow where participants can visit vendor booths, network with colleagues, and learn about new products and best practices in the workplace.

Registration for the events is now open.
