Construction has started on a Comfort Inn & Suites hotel in Cochrane.
Municipal officials, include Mayor Denis Clement, attended a May 7 groundbreaking ceremony with representatives from Choice Hotels for the new hotel at the intersection of Highway 11 and Western Avenue.
The 81-room hotel will feature indoor pool, free hot breakfast, unlimited Wi-Fi, secure lockup for snowmobilers, and ample parking for vehicles and trailers.
The property will also provide access and security for truckers traveling on the Trans-Canada Highway. Cochrane will join other Comfort Inn properties in North Bay, New Liskeard, Kirkland Lake and Kapuskasing.
