The Town of Cobalt is jazzing up its municipal park to attract residents and visitors.
Cobalt's Historic Mining Camp Family Park will get new LED lighting, and additional lighting around trails, as well as upgrades to a mini-putt course, the baseball field, the tennis court, and more. Additionally, the park will get barbecues, new bleachers, and fully accessible trails.
All this is happening with $93,000 in FedNor money, which Nipissing-Timiskaming MP Anthony Rota announced on May 11.
“Building up community infrastructure is vital to the long-term success of Nipissing-Timiskaming,” Rota said in a news release.
“Supporting our parks and green spaces will help us on our road to economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Now is the time to invest in the shared public spaces that will safely bring people together and help communities grow and thrive well into the future.”
Funding for the project comes from the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF).
“As we move forward from COVID-19, the Teck Park Project will serve as a way to bring people together," said Steve Dalley, manager for the Town of Cobalt , said in the release.
"The redevelopment and energizing of our outdoor municipal park will offer something for everyone, both young and old. I would like to thank FedNor, Anthony Rota’s office and staff, as well as the Town of Cobalt council and staff for making this project a reality.”
