Participants in the region’s tourism industry are gathered in North Bay this week for the 10th annual Northern Ontario Tourism Summit.

Scheduled for Nov. 19-21, the event draws together tourism businesses, organizations, and suppliers, as well as government representatives to find solutions to challenges facing the industry. It’s a joint initiative of Destination Northern Ontario, Nature and Outdoor Tourism Ontario, and Tourism North Bay.

Tanya Bédard, executive director of Tourism North Bay, called the event a “fantastic opportunity for us to gather, share our visions and ignite new ideas in a region renowned for its natural beauty and warm hospitality.”

Over two days, delegates will hear from industry leaders, local business owners, and tourism experts who will share insights on marketing trends, best practices, and innovative strategies to boost tourism in the North.

A range of activities is planned, including speaker presentations, interactive workshops, and panel discussions, along with a tradeshow and networking opportunities.

One featured presenter is Dan Riskin, a renowned evolutionary biologist, award-winning television presenter, and bestselling author.

The event will close on Nov. 21 with an awards ceremony celebrating the year’s best in tourism.

According to organizers, Ontario’s tourism industry generates more than $36 billion in economic activity and supports more than 400,000 jobs.
