Timmins played host to Consul General Antoinette Swain Marwitz of the U.S. Consulate in Toronto in late August as part of her tour to get acquainted with the North and the forestry industry. The tour included a stop at the Timmins Tree Seedling Production Centre at Millson Timber Inc.
Seeking to put a positive face on the U.S. government in light of crippling American duties on softwood lumber, the consul general's tour included stops at the Shania Twain Centre and First Nations communities in Trout Lake, Moosonee and Moose Factory.
