The Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce has named Marie Litalien as its new president and CEO.
Litalien will replace outgoing president Debbi Nicholson, who will retire at the end of June after 45 years in the position.
“We were fortunate to receive applications from many qualified candidates, but Marie’s unique combination of experience, energy, skills, and relationships made her the ideal candidate to assume this role,” Geoffrey Hatton, the Chamber’s board chair, said in a news release.
“She has a strong background in supporting growth, an in-depth understanding of advocacy, an innate business acumen and she knows how to effectively connect with members and stakeholders.”
Litalien most recently served as director of communications and community engagement with the City of Greater Sudbury.
The Chamber cited her skills in relationship-building, networking, commitment to fostering partnerships, budget management, and motivation to take on new challenges among the assets that made her the ideal candidate for the job.
“When I think of the chamber, I envision opportunities for every resident of this community — opportunities for jobs, for growth and for a better quality of life,” Litalien said in the release.
“It is an impressive network of members, staff and partners with a clear, common purpose. It is truly humbling to reflect on how my experiences have led me to this new place, and I am honoured and excited to be a part of something so impactful and inspiring.”
Litalien will take on her new role on July 2.
