Registration open for annual mining health and safety conference

This marks the 27th year for Workplace Safety North event

Workplace Safety North (WSN) has set the date for its 2025 Mining Health and Safety Conference, which is held annually in Sudbury.

Taking place April 30 to May 1 at Science North, the theme of this year’s event is ‘The Foundation of Mining Safety’. According to WSN, the conference will highlight the importance of legal requirements, risk management, and workplace culture.

More than 200 participants are expected to attend the two-day event, where they can learn about best practices in mining health and safety and network with their peers.

Key presentation topics include:

  • high-risk hazard management;
  • safety culture;
  • health and safety leadership;
  • improving physical and psychological health and safety in the workplace;
  • industry case studies;
  • research and innovation; and
  • emergency response.

Workplace Safety North is a not-for-profit health and safety association funded by the provincial government to provide approved health and safety training and services to the mining and forest products industries, in addition to overseeing Ontario Mine Rescue.
