As bargaining groups from Falconbridge's Kidd metallurgical division in Timmins met on a full-time basis to reach labour peace, members with CAW Local 599 voted in favour of strike action. Their current collective bargaining agreement expires Oct. 1. During a vote taken Sept. 17-18, 84 per cent voted in favour of a strike.
Among the issues on the table for the 700-member union include seniority rights, employee benefits and the contracting out of labour.
