The Ontario Ministry of Northern Development and Mines has joined the federal government, four provinces and the two territories to study new tax incentives for flow-through shares. The other provinces are British Columbia, Manitoba, Quebec and Saskatchewan. The participating jurisdictions hope the study will generate a better understanding about the ability of the tax credits to deliver private-sector investment to mineral exploration projects. The working group undertaking the study has been assigned to provide a preliminary report on the tax credits' effectiveness to the mines minister conference in October 2002.
