Aston Minerals is putting the team in place to build and finance an open-pit nickel mine near Timmins.
Earlier this year, the Australian company posted a maiden nickel sulphide resource estimate of 1.044-billion tonnes and a 1.5-million ounce gold estimate for its Edleston Project, 60 kilometres by road south of the city.
The Boomerang nickel and cobalt sulphide deposit is located within Edleston.
To lead the way from an exploration-stage company to becoming a mine developer, Aston appointed Peter Breese as executive chair and Russell Bradford as managing director early last month. They both officially take the helm on May 1, according to a company news release.
Handling the rest of the spade work is Executive Mining Group Ltd. which will take the project through to production. This company has extensive experience in conducting exploration, feasibility studies, construction and development, commissioning and operation of 10 mining projects around the world, including South Africa, Botswana, Tanzania and Ghana.
Breese has more than 30 years of experience in developing and operating mines, most recently as president-CEO of Asanko Gold in Ghana.
Bradford has 35 years experience working on developing mine projects in Africa, Australia and North America.
